Light rifle built on a very rare commercial Original Mauser 98' Kurz action made at Oberndorf circa 1930. Before new heat-treating, the system has been fully trued, the bolt lapped and the whole parts carefully polished. The all-steel single stage trigger benefits from a curved shoe specially manufactured to fit into the elegant oval trigger guard. The 25" match grade Lothar Walther barrel is chambered for the classic and highly accurate 250-3000 Savage, the only US round ever chambered by Mauser in kurz sporters. In order to be able to take advantage of modern loads with 100 to 120 grain bullets, the twist of the .257" barrel is 1/10" while the lapped chamber has been cut to minimum CIP dimensions. The barrel sports a five gold-lined leaves Mauser type A express rear sight regulated on the fine bead front sight fitted on a spear shaped ramp. The scope, a vintage Zeiss Diavari C 3-9×36 R Plex in new in box condition, is fitted to a traditional claw mount, the rear lock being integrated into the receiver square bridge of the receiver while the slender front base is welded to the barrel. The 14½" LOP stock, made of well seasoned French walnut, is classic shaped, combining an elongated grip, a straight comb and an oval beaded cheek piece with a short ebony capped forend. The checkered wood buttplate is protected by two curved steel fittings, deeply engraved by Florent Viale and finished in bone and charcoal color hardening like the grip cap ornamented the same way. All metal parts are DWM slow rust blued with the exception of some bone and charcoal color hardened furniture; the extractor blade and the bolt stop being nitre blue. Regards to all.
