That is a sweet rifle! Page 270 of Speed’s Commercial Oberndorf Mauser book says that Mauser mostly offered 6.5x58 in Type A’s, but also in some type B’s. I ran across an original Type S carbine in 6.5x58 at the Cabella’s in Sydney about 12 years ago. It was cool, but factory brass and ammo is nonexistent. They called it the “pencil Mauser”, in Southern Africa, due to how far the 160 grain bullet sticks out of the case. I’m Jealous!!! |
