In the British gun trade a lot guns and rifles were delivered at various stages of finish by the trade to retailers who would then complete for their customer and add thei name to it. Amongst Rifles their Mauser and mannlichers that have Dickson, Alex Henry, Army and Navy etc etc. Ditto for shotguns, both box and sidelock.

Often you do find guns that got into the market unsigned. Why - a customer needed it now, a dealer needed the cash, or where sitting in stock when gunmaker retired or went bust. In the 1950's through to the 70's Parker hale sold a lot of rifles this way. William Evans, William Powell and others are all still doing this, with guns from Italy, Spain and elsewhere.
