I particularly like the engraving on the floor plate, displaying a tiger attack on the hunter in the howdah n top on any elephant. A native or perhaps the mahout lies in the reeds below, where a maneater emerges from the jungle. A skull of a previous victim may lie beside the head of the mahout. The floorplate features a leopard emerging from the thick jungle canes and vines. (My interpretation of the engraving scenes) Another closer image of the floorplate and trigger guard I will be posting additional images of the many engraved features of the "Shikar" rifle, with its comprehensive theme. |
