Thank you Ash for posting the pics., I however don't see one for the 16 gau.?? No its not rifled but sights would be a plus for sure. On reading this over also a belated thank you to Steve for his prior posting. All the Mauser rifles are 8x57, the 92 Win. is a 32-20. All Mausers had DSTs with the back trigger missing, I have several replacements to install. Starting at the top - A commercial 1912 Oberndorff with integral DSTs, a octagon to round barrel with integral rib & front sight ramp. This is rather a rare bird being one of three commercial rifles (out of 4600+/-)used by the German military as a sniper rifle at the beginning of WW1. The claw mounts and scope are missing probably kept and used on the military sniper rifles? I feel very fortunate in owning such a historical piece. No makers name. The second is a no name small ring, with a full length rib and nicely engraved. The third is one by Merfert? with some fine "scroll" engraving. The forth a no name bought in a moment of weakness. The fifth is a 92 Winchester in 32-20 with an Octagon barrel, this rifle has been in the family for some 80 years? and is now in the possession of my son. I have quite a few more Mauser rifles in the clean up stages and will hopefully post pics. here as I get them done Gunship - I'm kind of out of the shooting aspect but the next generations will for sure - already doing it in fact. Thank you everyone for taking the time to view "my collection" feel free to ask any ???? and all take care. --- John |
