I realize that one would have to handle and study quite a lot of British Mausers to spot the differances. A comprehensive study like that could take someone a lifetime indeed. That is why I was hoping that members could post pictures of original examples witin the same thread for us all to compare. I'm sure it may take a while to have enough pictures to compare. If I had an original example I would have contributed myself. Unfortunatly I own no such gems, so I have come here to ask for this forums help. No other place I have found on the web has such enthusiasum for vintage British style !
