The first contract the Mauser Brothers got after presenting their M71, was with Austrian government, which ordered 2 or 3 thousand rear sights only. The sight is really a wonderful sight. The model of 1876 has a standing blade, with a flip-up leaf, then the ladder for longer range shooting. I suspect it was standard for most of these rifles.
