Re: a 404 Rigby

Re the provenance, considering there was a company making all sorts of stuff in California calling their firearms "Rigby" we have no idea if they made it or not.

Even though the barrel says, "London, England" which the UK firm of Bramble - a member here on NE - has the rights to use. I doubt he made it however! As his bolt actions have a definitely different style.

John,
The proofs shown in one of the above photos identify the rifle as going through the London Proofhouse well before the current owner of the Rigby London (a NE member) set up shop.

The proofs also show that the Rifle went through the London Proofhouse before Geoff Miller (Cal Rigby) aquired the Rigby name.

The proofs show that the rifle could have been built during the era where Paul Roberts of J Roberts & Co or J Roberts & Son owned the rights to use the Rigby London name.

J Roberts is a highly respected London Gunmaker established in 1950, who has been building guns since the mid 70's, and later building guns using the Rigby name between 1984 and 1997, and guns under the Jeffery name, between 2000 and 2010.
