Pjaln Very nice original Mauser. Some of the early Mauser sporters were made in 6.5x58P so the cartridge is correct but the chambering of 6.5x58P would not have been normal for the English market for which the Type A sporters were made specifically. The Pattern No.1 has the multi leaf English safari rear sight but does not have the lever release for the mag floor plate it has a release in the trigger bow. I am not aware that any Type A has a lever release whereas most of the Type B Mausers do. In saying all this your Mauser appears to have the horn forend cap and grip cap specifically fitted to the Type A model. How have you concluded your sporter is a type A? Please do not take me wrong as it is a very fine example of the Mauser Sporting firearm but curious as why your Mauser seems to have a mix of features of the A & B Mausers. |
