The blank came from Turkey. I can remember seeing it for sale but thought twice about doing a wire transfer. Soon it was marked sold. Some years later I find it in the mail as a replacement for a stock blank that had great color & figure in the butt stock and mild color up front. The nut of it is I was looking for more uniform color throughout. This is the most difficult to inlet blank I've ever worked on. The wood didn't respond well to cutting or scraping but eventually the inlet turned out pretty good without having to fill it with glass. ![]() The stock finish is heavily tinted with ground alkanet root throughout the finishing process. Shane Thompson started the metalwork with the action detailing, scope bases, barrel & attached hardware. I finished the metalwork with a custom bolt handle, safety, floormetal, trigger, & gripcap. After stocking Roger Kehr did a superb job matting the sighting hardware, inlaying a some gold lines, lettering and a carving just enough scroll. James Anderson |
