Not sure.

Some of WR Take down 318's (mine being one of them) have a large screw to undo the trigger guard and the tang of the rifle behind the bolt is Split, with the rear of the tang going into a piece of the tang that is set into the stock - so metal to metal.

Hope that explains it although not very well IMHO.
