A bit to ornate for my liking but the lines of that rifle and the timber in the stock are bloody good. I would not knock that rifle back.

So much to like about this rifle but why would they put a cheap aftermarket 2 position scope friendly safety on it???
Sticks out like a sore thumb, unlike the original Mauser flag which can’t be improved upon for an iron sighted rifle.

It does make sense that on a serious hunting rifle a 2 position safety is more foolproof than a 3 position.

Maybe to accommodate addition of a scope in the future?? Certainly money is no object. I would gladly put the first dent in it!!

Reading the article WR seems to try to downplay the lovely engraving and decorative features of the rifle. As a user rifle for it's commissioner. The orderer did order 200 cartridges with the rifle so this one might see some use. Ones hopes so.
I thought maybe WR might occasionally read posts on NE?  . They used to visit NE. Hopefully still do. WR let me know.
I love the styling of this rifle.
I'm going to add the explira article and images to this thread as an "archive". WR if this ever upsets you free advertising,  let me know.
I love the idea of the .330" .318 WR. As many know I've procrastinated on my "Tiger" rifle in one for umpteenth years. Hasn't happened ever for $$$ reasons. The .338s are the same class. A 8x68S.323,only .007" smaller, with 250 gr projectiles should exceed a .318 WR. I should have some 250 gr Woodleigh Weldcores this weekend.
This Westley Richards .318 WR is a very special rifle. It's owner should enjoy it's use. And is planning to use it as a open sighted rifle.

Not a Buehler safety- they were always right side, never seen a lefty. Looks like a commercial FN left side safety to me. BTW, does anybody know what bullets they use for their loaded ammo? Is Woodleigh producing the correct diameter bullets for the .318 yet? I understand the allure but sourcing components now and into the future would be a PITA.

Woodleigh I believe is producing batches of bullets. Which calibres and bullets, don't know? Where distributed already, don't know?
I recently saw a comment Woodleigh is soon doing a run of 270 gr RNSPs suitable for the 9.5x57 MS But needs to appoint a new USA importer now that Huntington's is closed.
Hopefully I can get some information on the weekend to share?

This beauty certainly has great lines - that is beyond reproach!
There are a few questions that everyone is banding around, but its the owner that wants a certain look that even companies like WR do their bidding, guess it would be a boring old world if we'd all like the same things though!
Great to hear that Woodleigh are obviously producing again!

Agree 100%. The 9.3x57 Huskys sold at tradeexcanada.com have a wonderful stock design as they are designed for the irons. With a scope, they work well too, with a heads-up shooting position, chin against the comb. This is not the hard cheek weld, so liked and trained by some militaries (primarily USA).
The heads-up position keeps the eyes more level, which helps with the body's balance.

I can't read "9.3 X 57 Husky" without grinning. Mine came from Simpson's Ltd. in Galesburg, Illinois.

Yes - they had some.
I'm running 286's at 2,200fps, same with 293's. The 270's run 2,300fps and the 300's (sized down .375's) run 2,170fps.
2,170fps is about what the original 9.3x62 made with 286's, back in the early 1900's.
