Re: Newly acquired 1910 Mannlicher

I am part of a hunting club that has a 244 acre lease along the Pea River here in South Alabama. Most of the hogs we shoot are mature boars and sows. Not something this old Iowa farm boy would consider eating. I grew up eating 6 month old corn feed pork. If you have ever been around an old boar the smell is not only on the outside and taints the meat.

Having also grown up around hogs as did many of my friends, when the subject comes up I am always reminded what one of those friends always said. "There ain't nuthin' meaner than a bitin' sow with pigs on her". I always believed John was right.
