This 1910 has me a little puzzled. Both the receiver and the barrel are marked with "MADE IN AUSTRIA". https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/iiRN_jzCSmqF_fp5rMPOkw.j9oIZo8xuVFKgXW3I4QyBq This is like an earlier posted 1910 that had been re-barreled to a 6.5 cartridge. The left of the receiver almost looks like it had been buffed. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/mEEFyWKSTPSAUjZUIuUSsg.MeBtnzR6iip7Vo4CRfRswV The Austrian proofs are for 1938. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/PGyNnJKLTl-dbd9iZSB6Yg.rl4tmfJ_BMEP8XKag6C03b Was the rifle returned to Steyr for re-barrel and refinish in 38? Another Austrian proof. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/u4tPYFm0RKySgJ7o9uH-cw.pPazmKkQmTg_oaWIriTGVq Then sometime after 1954 it was proofed in England. https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/0of7YKd3R8q4dM68Y11P9w.f7mDn5nXe88Rk3G3jgcm9o Now its in the US so it has been around. The serial number at 10880 is fairly high and was definitely made after 1924, but the barrel marking is supposedly used only on separately installed re-barrels not factory installed. Comments? |
