Finished the bedding. I cut a mortise with the face even with the rear of the recoil lug. I checked fit and found out the recoil lug was not in contact with the wood, not even close. As suspected most if not all of the bearing surface was at the rear of the magazine box. I slowly removed wood forward in the corners of the original mortise till contact was made, ~.050. If you look at the picture you can see the corners are radiused. All radius was removed to the rear mortise to get contact. The mortise is actually square cut but the radius and shadows make it look a little rough. I made a lug out of 1" x 1/4" steel and bedded it in with a proper dimensioned shim behind it to hold it in place. Also repaired the crack behind the magazine box extending into the trigger relief.
