I have gone from a 12 pound Mauser spring to a 19 pound Mauser spring (on all my Mausers) without having trouble with cocking the rifle.
My Springer "takes" 48 pounds to cock - I shoot it for 3 hours indoors every Wed. afternoon I'm almost 75. If you feel weak, push some weights.
