The first one shown, the .300 Savage, has clearly been restocked. It does, however, incorporate the desirable and original 'Special Folding Peep Sight' option as often found on Take Down Models. 'Prewar' MS with Special Folding Peep Sight option. I agree with the assessments and opinions offered by other members here. The M1900 and all production 'Y' series MS were originally chambered for the MS proprietary 6.5X54 cartridge, the first four commercial models had model numbers which corresponded to their MS proprietary chamberings: M1903 - 6.5X54 M1905 - 9X56 M1908 - 8X56 M1910 - 9.5X57 Also, the original M1924 were all chambered for 'The U.S. 1906 Cartridge' (.30-'06) though many were later re engraved (stamped) with the metric designation '7.62X63' to facilitate European sales. |
