Quote: 'Sequoia' was the M1924 marketed through Sequoia Importing Co. of San Francisco and Detroit. They were all chambered for the .30-'06 cartridge and were marked M1924 rather than 7.62 x 63. Steyr manufactured rifles and carbines in several chamberings built on the M1924 type receiver (longer than previous models) from the mid 1920s through Anschluss that have come to be known as 'M1925'. It has been written that much unsold inventory from the Sequoia contract was either overstamped with '7.62 X 63' over the prior 'M1924' designation or reconfigured to cartridge sizes more popular in Europe and then overstamped with the appropriate cartridge designation. |
