Hello Levallois, I have seen some pre wars M-Sch and I had for some years a M-Sch GK marked as made in 1964 in 7x64. May be some finishing, polishing and blueing details were slightly better in the pre war´s. Anyway, the fitting of my GK was great!! But there is a rather BIG difference in the design of the primary extraction between the pre and post II WW Mannlicher-Schoenauers: Pre II WW: The machining of the primary extraction angled slope was made in the action forward bridge. So, the front end of the barrel chamber is like in the Mausers. To put a new barrel for the same cartridge is relatively easy. Post II WW: The primary extraction angled slope was machined in a barrel extension. This is a big issue if the barrel should or wanted to be changed, even for the same cartridge in the Post II WW M-Sch!!! The works on that barrel extension is no a small thing....! PH |
