Looks broken right through the wrist cleanly and glued back together at one time. Maybe some reinforcement inside there, maybe not. The auction clearly states "..The wrist has been professionally repaired.." Nice rifle inspite of the repair, That issue could be redone and hidden so as not to be seen at all. I have a similar 256 Gibbs Magnum on a 1903 M/S but the wood is plain, no grip cap, no front sight cover, it's not a TD and doesn't have anywhere near the condition this one does. Mine does have an Aldis Bros 'scope in QD 'Vienna" (?) style mounts and the multi leaf rear bbl sight. Exc bore. Shoots very nicely. I make brass from 8x57MAuser using shortened 6.5 Swede dies and a .303 FL die to narrow the shoulder dia of the case which it needs. The rifle laid on a gunshow table unloved for a Sat and 1/2 day Sunday looking for a buyer @ $250 IIRC till I spotted it. Couldn't believe my luck. I didn't even kick the tires. |
