Quote: Indeed. Of course, in 1963 a body could go to the U.S. Treasury or any Federal Reserve Bank and buy all of the silver dollars one wanted at $1.00 each (in bags of one thousand). A 'split window' Corvette started at $4,257. Per usinflationcalculator.com , each 1963 dollar would equal $8.24 in 2018 dollars, so the 'Vette would be the equivalent of $35,077.96 and the Mannlicher would be $1631.53. A brand new '63 Corvette, A fresh Mannlicher Schoenauer (though I do prefer the 'prewar' models) and a back seat stacked with unopened U.S. Mint sacks of silver dollars would definately make my day! Now, where can I get myself a time machine and a ----load of pre - 1964 U.S. currency? |
