Yes mate, I used to own a M72 in .270 Win but sold it 4 or 5 years ago. It was a good enough rifle which served me faithfully for 30 years or so. As you mentioned it's primary downfall was the plastic rotor in the mag. I had to replace it once as the original cracked/broke.
