The .256 rimmed round makes a delightful little hunting rifle. Loaded with a 160 grain Hornady round nose there's not much will get away from it. Very light recoil.

I've got quite a bit of experience with a .375, it shoots wonderfully with a RL-15 equivalent of cordite (to the sights, correct velocity, low pressure). It feeds nicely in the Steyr clips.I use 270 grain Hornady round noses, but these are getting hard to find. The recoil with an 8 lb rifle is like a 303.

I think about all these sporters were made up from a production over run from the 1892 military contract for Romania, if I remember correctly, but I may not.....
