All 3 stocks are European Walnut, tree species juglans regia. This Wood is usually much lighter in color than American Black walnut, juglans nigra. Quite often European gunstocks are stained darker before finishing. On the other hand, regia Wood has less and smaller pores than nigra and often shows contrasting light-dark coloration, up to "marble cake" appearance. Black/nigra Wood is usually of an uniform, dark reddish brown color.
