Hi K/B I was just wondering, is the Hornady tool you describe really necessary to establish distance to lands? What I tend to do in such circumstances is to just drop a projectile into the breech. I then tap it oh so gently so that it catches on the lands, then use a cleaning rod to measure the distance between the tip of the projectile and the muzzle. I then tap out the projectile, close the bolt on an empty chamber and measure the distance from the bolt face to the muzzle, again, using a cleaning rod. This then gives me a max COL from which to develop my hand loads. |
