Re: Unusual Dutch Mannlicher spotted - dig the scope mount

First time posting here and just had to mention something.
I did a search for Dutch Mannlicher scope and found this posting. Funny thing is that I am the one who bought this rifle off of Gun Broker and it was the intriguing scope mount that sold me on it. While it does need some work it is actually in far nicer shape than the pictures show. I am currently in the process of restoring the rifle. And yes I am replacing all of the buggered up screws and the horrid hex cap screws. It is currently getting a good polish and blue job and a new express sight installed. The stock which is in physically very good condition will get refinished, sent out for a nice checkering job and a large recoil pad installed to increase the LOP to help with my long arms. I am also looking for a vintage European scope that will fit in the 1 inch rings. The current Texan scope is rather beat up and the lenses are on the dingy side. My friends have asked me why I would spend so much on an old cut up military rifle when I could buy a new top end Remington or Winchester for similar money. The answer is always the same ... “You just wouldn’t understand!”

Anyway just thought it was funny that the first time I searched the site for ideas on how to execute my restoration, I would run into my very own rifle.
Thanks,
Mike
