IMO the question is the quality of work, not the way you mount your scope. Both soldering and weaver rail could be done badly if you don´t know how and what to do. But soldering is much more time consuming and expensive and you always need a gunsmith. I know that in Germany and Austria hunting /shooting has always been a hobby for people who have time and money to use gunsmith for all gun works but in scandinavia and USA hunting has in many cases been a part of living which means bad conditions and lower standard of living i.e. less money so that´s why these gunworks has been much more as DIY. For example I have seen fotos of famous Finnish seal hunters Mauser which scope mounts has welded to the rifle. Despite that this rifle was very accurate and served well as a tool for this prohunter. So I think it´s mostly cultural question if you use claw mounts with soldered rings or steady mounts with weaver rail. Properly done both ways works well. |
