I have fired quite a bit of the PPU ammo in my 1903. Initially I did experience very difficult feeding most of the time. Since PPU ammo was commonly available I decided to SLIGHTLY modify my cartridge stop to allow smother feeding. I also have a spare original cartridge stop so did not feel bad about the modification. I filed and polished the cartridge stop to allow the round to rise slightly higher, but without dragging on the underside of the bolt. This allows the bullet nose to strike the feed ramp slightly higher where it is at a much better angle to feed up towards the chamber. I also gave the feed ramp a mirror polish. Now the rounds feed fine but the bolt still must be worked with authority. I don't smash the bolt home but I don't baby it either. I am thankful for the PPU ammo as it allows me to practice without be too concerned with the cost of the ammo. Hope this helps. |
