The nice thing about a .244 is that it can easily be converted to 6.5X57 or 7X57 by reboring. The stock is an easy fix, too. Only the bolt handle presents some difficulty, but one can get used to it, if one tries hard enough. I have one in 9.3X62, and I only take it out at dawn or dusk, so I don't frighten the wildlife.
