Re: Forming 6.5x54mm M-S Cases from 220 Swift?

I've done it,,though I've been told 220S isn't any good for that.
Works fine as far as I can see. FWIW, I use minimum to mid range loads, nothing max or near it. Not in fear of the strength of the brass, it's just something I do in any of my cartridge reloads.

I did trim the rim down and slightly deepen the extractor groove,,one operation on the lathe.
Tell you the truth, I never gave it any thought to try them in the 2 M1903's I have w/o going through the trouble. Might've worked,,the bolt face might not be the problem,,the magazine and it's rotor may be though.

I've also used the 220S as 6.5x53R,,leaving the slight factory rim as-is and headspacing on the shoulder. The one and only rifle I have in this cal is a sporter built on a Romanian bbled action and again works fine w/the 220S brass. Just enough rim to extract and eject.
Standard 30-06 shellholder fits the 220S factory case.
No case dimension troubles using the brass in any of the rifles.

I was given a bunch of oncefired Winchester 220 brass, so that's why I decided to use it at the time.
