I recently picked up a parts gun....a Steyr-Mannlicher Model 95 .256 made in 1899. English proofmarks. I thought I would share a few photos of its interesting front sight. The sight has tiny patent dates on the circular hood (PAT,AUG 01,86-JULY 14,91)...when hood is up there is a small post sight but when pushed forward and down, up pops a large white (gloaming) bead sight. Ivory I suppose. Its a nice piece of work. I know I bought it as a parts gun, but I find that I like it, right down to the big brass plates bolted to either side of the grip...It seems to have a shootable bore .... |
