I assume the records of the Steyr factory in Austria were destroyed during or after the war by bombing or as a result of the unconditional surrender that led to the destruction of all armaments factories. This was the fate of the Mauser factory at Oberndorf. Then, much to everyone's surprise, some of the Mauser records were found, leading to the Mauser Archives supplement to Speed's other books. This is a situation best avoided
Does anyone know if the pre-war Steyr archives exist, in whole or part? Presumably the post-war records exist which is the obvious place to start for any study of post 1950 MS.
