I been looking for a proper scope mount for my 1952 Mannlicher ever since I bought a coupe of years ago. I'd like either a G&H or a Paul Jaeger mount. A couple months ago I picked up a new condition Paul Jaeger base. On the auction it appeared to have a flat backed base, but when it arrived the base actually is milled so that surface toward the receiver decreases in width from one end to the other. Odd(??). The base is marked on the bottom with an "O" and a "M53".

Any help in identifying what firearm this base would be used on?

As an aside, I just 'won' an auction for a Jaeger mount that should work for my 1952 rifle.

I'll have a go at posting some photos, if I can remember how.
