Hello... I am getting a Dutch M95 6.5x53R carbine. I know it is not one of the elite hunting rifles seen here, but I wanted a project. The rifle was cheap enough but brass is not abundant. The caliber is what intrigues me. Thus I have decided to go the route of forming my own from .303 British. All I have been reading shows it is not a process that is too difficult. Have stocked up on some brass, pushed the shoulder back with a .308 Winchester die, necked down with a 6.5x54 mannlicher die, trimmed to length, and now am waiting for a somewhat nice range day to fireform them. My bullets of choice are the Hornady 160gr.RN These Woodleigh bullets...being new to this, are they more desirable than the Hornadys? A few of us have decided to do a white tail deer hunt this fall with old military rifles and I want to have a good bullet for this hunt. What say you? In northern Minnesota, USA. Deep forests, thick tamarac swamps and short range shooting. |
