Well my narrow screwdrivers arrived and now I have some more questions. If I have it right, my carbine was made in 1919 from the '19' that is near a punch mark and trails a five digit number. Question is: The rifle has the serial number on the receiver and barrel above the wood line(4 digits). There is a completely different number below the wood line (5 digits) which is followed by the punch mark and "19". What is the purpose of the set of numbers below the wood line? The stock is also marked inside and matching with the four digit serial number. But, there is also a six digit number stamped on the outside of the stock just forward of the rear swivel stud. This number is different from any other on the rifle. What would be the purpose of this number? http://s152.beta.photobucket.com/user/Ta...033749559630256 http://s152.beta.photobucket.com/user/Ta...555967875639031 |
