I disagree, this is not the remains of a Parker-Hale "Sportarget" sight. It is certainly a Lyman Nr. 1 sight, same as the one on my similar Gibbs-Mannlicher. BTW the Lyman 1A had a small additional locking lever, the Nr. 1 did not. http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af303/kuduae/2010_01180010.jpg
You will note that the Parker Hale sight base is not dovetailed into the cocking piece. The Lyman No.1 sight base is dovetailed into the cocking piece, as is the Holland and Holland rifle in question. It is undoubtedly a Lyman sight base.
