If you don't mind the plastic bits (on both) then the newer SBS is n better rifle than the older Model M. But neither comes close to an all steel Luxus or the classic Mannlicher Schoenauer. I have a few and the only thing that disappoints is the flexible fore stock on the SBS Prohunter model - but that can be fixed. If you are going for the 30/06 - make sure you double check all the plastic parts for cracks. If possible remove the stock and check the action screw holes - that is usually where the cracks appear. Also check the "web" around the rear action screw in the stock. As you mentioned in your opening line - consider AND buy them both if in good condition and enjoy shooting some of the finest firearms ever made! Regards H |
