The question is where in the UK will you be hunting? The regulations are different in England & Wales. I tried to reply the other day but for soemr eason it would not allow it?

Anyway in England & Wales for Deer it's minimum calibre of .240" with a minimum muzzle energy of 1700 ft lbs. Recently they have changed the law to allow the .22 C/F to be used for hunting Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer.

In Scotland they also have a minimum muzzle velocity which is 2450 fps and for all deer except roe minimum calibre of .240" with a minimum bullet weight of 100 grains and minimum muzzle energy of 1700 ft lbs. For Roe a .22 C/F can be used providing it uses minimum bullet weight of 50 grains giving 1100ft lbs muzzle energy.
