If you want the option of trying projectiles other than the 160 gn round noses I reckon go for a post war action as per your original post. Although no expert, I do know my 1903 take down will only feed reliably with the big round noses and even then COAL is critical because of the design of the rotary mag. I'm going thru the same decisions now and will most probably off load the '03 and try to find a 1950 to replace it with.

The 1950 and later mag has the metal support ring which helps hold the case bodies against the spindle instead of relying on the projectile nose being the correct shape and length to support it at the front end of the mag. Better chance of being able to get reliable feeding with different projectile shapes and weights this way.
