Sounds like you have something specific in mind, but if you're flexible I would suggest looking for a Greek military Mannlicher. I wouldn't consider butchering a nice one, they have collector value of course, but most of those I've seen have stuffed bores and punky wood whereas the action itself is often in fine condition. Asking price is usually in the order of drinking-money.

There's just such an example tucked away in my gunsafe for a rainy day......
