Grulla Armas, Spain http://www.grullaarmas.com GRULLA ARMS - Eibar: environment, history and tradition Grulla Armas is a company based in Eibar, a village of about 30.000 population located in the province of Gipuzkoa, Basque Country. It is situated about 72 km far from San Sebastian and 46 km from Bilbao; the village is comunicated with both cities through the A8 highway. The production of GRULLA handcrafted shotguns began in 1932, and following the hiatus of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), production recommenced in 1940, hence we are about to celebrate the 70 anniversary of the beginning of this prestigious MARQUE. There were initially five people, who originally built on experience gained over many years in the most emblematic firms in the town of EIBAR, who unfortunalety left as one by one as the years passed. However those pioneers always managed to gather around them people like themselves in the early days, to whom they were able to pass on their experience, so that newly-acquired wisdom was, in time, vested in the craftmen who took their place. After numerous vicissitudes in the arms sector, these craftsmen were able to demonstrate their skills and experience, managing not only to maintain, but also improve on, a prestigious reputation, and little by little reach into the world market, where nowdays their exquisite shotguns are held in great regard. Equally they managed to incorporate the express rifle into their production range, but insisting on a tipe of rifle that would feature something exclusive: the finest sidelocks and action frames, especially made for this gun, which, by virtue of its caliber, demands a exclusive and uniform material and design. These men, now mature in years, are pursuing one single goal in their work, using the most exquisite materials and woods, suceeding in making these shotguns and rifles genuine WORKS OF ART.. |
