IMHO it is more likely an Indian IOF .315 sporting rifle, a Lee-Enfield type sporting rifle made to this day by the Ishapore arsenal. To prevent the use of military ammo, it is chambered for the .315 IOF cartridge, nothing else than the old M1895 Austrian 8x50R Mannlicher. The ammo is made afaik by the famous government ammunition factory at Dum-Dum near Calcutta. See:
