It looks to be a genuine sporter albeit a basic one ,A lot of these were made up for India when the British banned the private ownership of 303 rifles ,a ban which is still in force today.

The rifle and cartridge is still in use in India ,the rifles are made by the Indian ordnance factory ,the cartridge is known as the IOF 315.
