I just got this Lee Speed that I have reason to believe was made in 1898. Don's ask, I'm not saying why for now. A couple of things: The peep is cut into a dove tail on the cocking piece and seems to require no elevation knob or dial. It clicks up and down by hand for (presumably) 100, 200 and 300 yards. There are 3 horizontal lines with click stops on the back of the sight. The rifle was retailed by W. Horton in Glasgow. I have no idea if they fit the sight or if it was a later addition. The other unusual thing about this rifle, is that is says "Lee Speed Patent" not "Lee Speed Patents". How do I post pictures? |
