BSA made *all* the Lee Speeds?

It seems to be commonly assumed that all or most of the Lee Speed type sporters were made by BSA? Obviously LSA (London Small Arms) also made some, but most are marked BSA & Co. etc.

I'm just wondering if we are all on the same page as to the other smaller gunmakers who sold BSA-made rifles and the extent to which these rifles were built or finished by those other gunmakers?

My own belief would be that BSA provided barreled actions, perhaps with a range of sights etc. that could be chosen from, and that the gunmakers did the stock-making, engraving, finishing etc. themselves.

I suppose BSA might have also provided finished or sem-finished actions alone, but probably they would have wanted to do the the barreling to ensure the quality and shooting of what went on their actions.

Would anyone care to comment?
