Hi Andre, As there is not much information available we have to do some guesswork. The number under the bolt handle should be matched to a number on the barrel and action under the fore end - I assume this is a batching number for production. Later rifles (after c 1900?) have the action number moved to the flat under the bolt handle and no new hand engraved serial number. Early rifles usually had tall gaurd wings each side and integral with the foresight. The two actions shown are about 1895 and 1904 judging by other features and markings. My best guess is your rifle was made about 1899 - give or take a couple of years. Regards - Andrew |
