Re: RWS "FINISHING SHOT" Ammo???

9ThreeXFifty7,

Actually what I was using is the Hornady 130 grain SP. Previously I had been using the 125 grain Sierra Game King, but I was able to buy several thousand Hornady blemished bullets for a really favorable price, so I changed to them, with no sacrifice in accuracy. Both are advertised as hunting bullets as opposed to varmint bullets, but until I actually tried them, I had my doubts.

I used to get some funny looks on the rifle range, shooting SP bullets instead of the traditional HP's, but there is no rule against it. I use 168 gr. Sierra MK's at 300 yards and 175 grain Berger VLD's at 600 and beyond.

Whereabouts in KY did you live? My house is about two miles from the KY state line in NW West Tennessee. Very few ground hogs here, compared with where I used to live in Middle Tennessee. My array of varmint rifles: .22 Hornet, .218 Bee, .219 Improved Zipper, .222 Remington, .220 Swift, .240 Cobra, .240 PSP, 6mm/.225, 6mm Imp. Krag, .250 Savage, .25-'06, .25 Improved Krag are all gathering dust.
