Thanks for the help Andre! These are pics from a 5 day driven hunt in early January. A group of 22 Brits, mostly new to driven boar took about 40 pigs. This was less than we were lead to expect but still a respectable bag, including several nice tuskers (including one 21cm silver medal boar). I used my sako .270 to shoot 2-3 pigs and it worked well. Incidentally, the two largest keilers (both well over 100kgs) were shot with a .270 and one shot apiece. Though a the lowest 3.5x on my scope was still a little high for some close range shots (3 meters!) I was able to make do. I much preferred to use my own gun than rent a semi-auto shotgun which I was not familiar with. The snowy conditions made the beaters work extra difficult, but added something to the hunt in terms of aesthetics. The camaraderie of driven hunting is a large part of its attraction and we really enjoyed ourselves for the whole time. |
