Hunting in Switzerland will be a long story! Better you specify what you want to know. Hunting regulations are cantonal, and there are more than 20 cantons in Switzerland. Some cantons have a "Patentsystem", meaning a license system similar to the US: with the issue of a license, you have free access to all hunting grounds in a specific canton, with rather short hunting seasons. Other cantons have a "Reviersystem", were hunting areas are leased for several years to small groups of hunters. One canton, Geneva, even has banned public hunting. Then you have very different landscapes, from rather flat land, 400-600 m altitude, to alpine country, 3000+ meters. Game animals vary accordingly. Fuhrmann |
