Yes, the forest grouse {ruffed grouse} is a delicious bird. We shoot them with rifle, pistol and shotgun. I have heard of folks who use dogs but I don't and actually I don't know anyone who does.

Here are a few pictures of the terrain along with yet another cousin of sorts, a turkey I shot a few weeks ago. We are at about 900-to-1100 meters elevation and get about 84 cm precipitation per year. Much falls as rain or snow during the winter and we have a dry season from about the middle of July to the middle of September.
